The Connect Conference has been renamed Connect Sessions. The Connect Sessions are designed to attract new members to the organization, create meaningful relationships between new members and existing members, and to strengthen connections between current membership and organizational divisions.

This year, six Connect Sessions are offered during the first two days of programming. These programs have been created by the Community College Interest Group and are sponsored by the First Vice President's Programming. The 2024 Connect Session programming includes:

  • Advancing Personally with Professional Membership, which will help new attendees learn how to navigate the convention as well as get the very best from the convention experience.
  • Two Can Play at That Game: How Faculty Can Benefit From AI, too, where panelists present AI generator programs that can assist with assignment creation, classroom activities, project-based learning, assessment, and grading.
  • Career Readiness: Connecting NACE Competencies to Introductory Communication and Public Speaking Courses, where presenters discuss how they address top ranked career skills and how to build these competencies into introductory communication courses.
  • Reclaiming Your Classroom: Connecting Course Policies with Current Research, where participants will gain insight into classroom policies and activities that implement workplace writing, teamwork, and individual accountability.
  • Elevate the Quality of Your Online Course Design, where participants will learn to recognize standards for online course design and elevate the quality of the learning experience for their students.
  • Incorporating Linguistic Justice in the Communication Classroom, where participants will learn about linguistic discrimination and identify ways to move away from approaches that unfairly penalize speakers of "nonstandard" varieties of English with without sacrificing academic rigor.

If you are looking to make new connections, please stop by the CONNECT table on-site in the registration area.
