2027 ECA Convention Deadline Friday, October 9th for Community College Interest Group Call for Submissions

Greetings, ECA Members!

The deadline for submissions to ECA’s 2027 Convention is this Friday, October 9th. Interested in presenting at one of the Community College Interest Groups Programs, but not really sure where to start?

Great news! Below is a list of ideas that have been submitted in need of additional panelists/participants. If you are interested in presenting as a part of any of these programs that are preparing for submission, please fill out this Google Form and somebody will contact you to collaborate.

  • Media Literacy Roundtable: What’s happening with media literacy in higher education? Topics may include presenting the latest research, legislation or what you are implementing on your campus that is unique and innovative.
  • Attention Grad Students! Looking for a Faculty Position? A Program for Emerging Scholars: For this panel, the Chair is seeking an array of community college educators at varying stages of career to discuss; what to expect during a community college interview/what types of questions are asked? What is distinct about teaching at a community college? What is the difference with work/life in a 2-year vs. 4-year?
  • Unique Curricular Concerns of the Community College: A Roundtable: Looking for community college faculty to start a discussion about one or more of the following areas, with research to back up their claims:
    • Student population
    • Transfers, HS, GED
    • Dual-Enrollment/HS
    • Workforce Development
    • Differences in Prerequisites
  • Let Us Help You Conference! Whether an ECA member is new to the conference circuit or wants to freshen their approach, this roundtable will help with that. People who would like to join this program will discuss their tips for conferencing in general and on the ECA circuit.
  • What’s Up with AI? Struggles & Successes with Program & Policy on Campus: Participants in this roundtable panel will share their department/college AI policies, syllabus statements, rules and regulations. Discussions can include struggles and successes in developing policy, and/or detailing where your institution started with their AI policies and where they are now. 
  • Meet the Authors! Publishing as a Community College Professor While Balancing Campus Service and Scholarship: Have you published a book, article, or OER Material? Join this roundtable to discuss how you have achieved publishing while balancing your other responsibilities as a community college professor.
