ECA 2021 Convention - Communication Law and Ethics Interest Group Call for Submissions

CALL FOR PAPERS

2021 EASTERN COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

COMMUNICATION LAW & ETHICS

The Communication Law and Ethics Interest Group of the Eastern Communication Association invites the submission of competitive papers, thematic program or panel proposals, and innovative programming alternatives (e.g., roundtables, symposia, debates, open forums, and community programs) for the 112th annual convention of the ECA.

The 2021 convention’s theme, “Resilience” will be a deliberation on our discipline’s response to overcoming obstacles, thriving despite challenges, and adapting to an ever-changing global landscape. This speaks to our own division’s role as the foundation for resilience. It is our ethics that will be the guiding principles needed to persevere through new challenges. While the law shall apply our ethical principles to find the best approaches to current social issues. It is our division that will deliberate on these rules- both legal and ethical- to help us navigate through such challenging times.

We invite all works that concern the ethical, social justice, policy and legal issues in the field of communication. We invite work from students, faculty and professionals. We also invite work from varying types of approaches including ethical, legal, critical, empirical and theoretical.

In keeping with this theme, we are specifically seeking papers, thematic panels, and other program content that explores how ethical and legal principles have evolved through previous times of upheaval and can help guide us through this current era of disruption.
