ECA 2021 Convention - Kenneth Burke Interest Group Call for Submissions

ECA - 2021 Convention - Call for Papers

Kenneth Burke Interest Group

The Kenneth Burke Interest Group invites submissions for the 112nd Eastern Communication Association Annual Conference (March 24-28, 2021 in Cambridge, MA). While all papers and panel proposals shall be considered, those that address the conference theme (Resilience) will be particularly welcome. Submissions may include competitive papers or panels.

ECA uses Attendee Interactive to manage submissions and reviews. This will be the third year that ECA utilizes this platform and it is the same system used by the National Communication Association. The deadline for submissions remains the same, October 15, 2020 at 11:59 PM PST. If you have not used it before, you will be prompted to create a new User ID and Password to submit your work. Please find the Attendee Interactive link here: https://ww4.aievolution.com/eca2101

The use of AV equipment is not recommended unless it is necessary for the presentation of the content and you may have to provide your own equipment. The Interest Group invites two types of submission and the specific requirements for each type follows.

ECA Statement Regarding Re-Submission from 2020 Convention

Although we may invite some panels that were slated to take place at ECA2020, 2021 convention will be built based on a new call for papers and a completely new submission process that will open later this spring as is typical.

Therefore, everyone is free to submit their work previously accepted for ECA2020 elsewhere.  We have no desire to control how you manage your own vita. We personally see no problem with listing your acceptance at ECA and noting that the meeting was canceled—and then listing it again if accepted at another convention.  You should seek direction from your own Tenure & Promotion committees/chairs/deans and/or be extremely clear so as not to raise problematic questions.

Please notice that you can also request special scheduling due to religious or cultural needs when submitting papers, panel proposals, etc. I will then forward the special request to the primary program planner, Amanda McKendree.
