Political Communication Interest Group Call for Papers

112th Annual Convention of the Eastern Communication Association March 24-28, 2021

Hyatt Regency, Cambridge, MA

Submission Deadline: October 15, 2020

The Political Communication Interest Group is now accepting paper and panel submissions for the 2021 Eastern Communication Association Annual Convention in Cambridge, MA. The theme for the 2021 Convention is “Resilience.”

The Political Communication Interest Group considers papers/panels that focus on all areas of political communication including, but not limited to, the communication activity of citizens, individual political figures, governmental institutions, the media, political campaigns, advocacy groups and social movements. This Interest Group recognizes and encourages research that addresses political communication topics across a variety of contexts and that employs a variety of research methodologies. For the 2021 ECA Convention, we encourage papers and panels that advance the convention theme of “Resilience” within the contexts of political communication research, pedagogy and practice. Submissions on topics ranging from the 2020 primaries and general elections to innovations in teaching political communication are especially welcome, as are submissions that examine political communication in Cambridge and greater region of ECA.

ECA uses Attendee Interactive to manage submissions and reviews. The deadline for submissions is October 15, 2020 at 11:59 PM. You will be prompted to create a new User ID and Password to submit your work if you have not used Attendee Interactive in the past.

Submitting 2020 Papers for 2021 Convention

Although we may invite some panels that were slated to take place at ECA2020, next year’s convention will be built based on a new call for papers and a completely new submission process that will open later this spring as is typical.

THEREFORE, everyone is free to submit their work previously accepted for ECA2020 elsewhere.  We have no desire to control how you manage your own vita.  You should seek direction from your own Tenure & Promotion committees/chairs/deans and/or be extremely clear so as not to raise problematic questions.
