Assistant Professor of Communication Arts
Utica College
The Department of Communication Arts at Utica College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2019. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Communication by the start date. ABD with a strong teaching portfolio and demonstrated capacity to complete their Ph.D. by the start date will be considered. Responsibilities of the position involve teaching 4 courses per semester, including both entry-level and upper-level courses, as well as establishing a program of scholarship that may include undergraduate students. Service at the college is also expected. The department is moving in an exciting new direction and looking for a colleague who will contribute to their strengths as they grow. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses including Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Communication Theory (expertise in Health Communication and/or Intercultural Communication are preferred). The Department of Communication Arts is committed to critical approaches to communication and a humanist approach to liberal arts. Candidates must be dedicated to quality undergraduate teaching, and be able to demonstrate potential for ongoing research/scholarly activity and service at the department, college, and professional level.
